What makes ILR unique? It is the only institution of higher education in the United States to offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in the interdisciplinary field of workplace studies. In addition, its Extension division offers courses, workshops, certifications, and other outreach programs for practitioners, workers, and policy analysts.

ILR is home to the world's largest concentration of scholars in this interdisciplinary field. Our faculty members are active researchers and committed teachers, dedicated to serving the ILR community.
ILR's six academic departments span the range of subject areas related to work, employment, and the workplace.
Undergraduate students at ILR work toward a bachelor of science degree, taking courses based in the social sciences and complemented by campus-wide offerings in the humanities. Their experience is enhanced by opportunities for research, internships, and study abroad. ILR offers several different graduate degrees: the PhD, MS, MPS, and MILR. The first two are academic degrees with a research focus. The latter two are geared toward students who plan to use their expertise as practitioners in the workplace.
Outreach through continuing education is part of ILR's mission. ILR offers a wide range of courses, workshops, and certification programs throughout New York State. In addition to the Ithaca campus, we maintain regional offices in Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, and the New York City metropolitan area.
